Fares
Purchase Locations
- All tickets and passes can be purchased at the Downtown Modesto Transit Center Customer Service Office.
- Regular 1, 7, and 31-Day Passes are available at the Stanislaus State University (CSUS) Student Center during business hours.
- Passes can also be purchased by mail with a check or money order sent to the StanRTA Office (see below for details).
- Fixed Route and Commuter fares can always be purchased on the Token Transit app (see below for details).
- 1-Day Passes can be purchased on the bus with exact change. Only cash is accepted, and drivers do not carry change. Please have the exact change ready to deposit in the fare box before boarding the bus.
All persons must have a valid Pass/Ticket in their possession while riding the bus. Tickets are not transferable. Fare evasion is a violation of State Penal Code Section 640.
Please be aware that The S does not offer exchanges, replacements nor refunds for passes. This policy applies to passes that have been folded, ripped, or water damaged and includes passes that were purchased and activated prior to free ride promotion days.

Proof of Eligibility for Seniors, Persons with Disabilities, or Medicare Card Holders
A StanRTA Half Fare Discount Card, Medicare Card, ADA Paratransit Eligibility Card, or identification showing status is acceptable proof of eligibility for Half Fare Passes. A valid discount ID card from other transit systems is acceptable.

Mobile Tickets and Passes
You are able to purchase and use bus tickets or passes on your smartphones or other mobile devices quickly and conveniently by downloading the Token Transit App in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). This app eliminates the need to wait in line for passes or have exact change for the bus, so you can get to the places you can go faster on "The S" - Stanislaus Regional Transit Authority (StanRTA).
Token Transit Features

How it Works
- Download - Install “Token Transit” from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Enable Bluetooth and Location Services.
- Purchase-
- Select a Stanislaus Regional Transit Authority (StanRTA) fare type.
- Pay with your credit or debit card
- All purchased mobile tickets or passes are stored in your Token Transit account
- Activate - When you are ready to ride, tap your ticket or pass to activate. All tickets and passes are stored in your Token Transit account.
- Ride - As you board the bus, show your phone to the driver. Ride the bus anytime with ease and convenience.
MJC Bus Pass Program
Modesto Junior College (MJC) students can ride Stanislaus Regional Transit Authority (StanRTA) buses for free simply by displaying their MJC Student ID card with a current semester sticker to the driver. This program is available on all StanRTA services.
Obtain Your MJC Student ID and Current Semester Sticker on the West Campus at the Reception Desk, located in the lobby of the Mary Stuart Rogers Center.

Tell us what you want and provide us with your name, mailing address and phone number - we'll handle it from there. A receipt will always be mailed to the purchaser. Please allow sufficient time for processing the purchase and mailing of requested fare media.
Discounted Fare Media Purchases
The first time you purchase a discounted pass or ticket by mail you must send a photocopy of acceptable proof of eligibility. Remember, discount pass and ticket users (Seniors, Persons with Disabilities, Medicare Card Holders) must also show proof of eligibility to driver.
Order Limit
Mail orders may not exceed $175 in value.
