Privacy Policy
Protecting your private information is our priority. This Privacy Policy applies to the Stanislaus Regional Transit Authority (StanRTA or Authority), branded as “The S”, and governs data collection and usage. For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, unless otherwise noted, all references to “StanRTA” include “The S”. The website www.stanrta.org is a public site. By using the stanrta.org website, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.
Type of Information We Collect:
We do not collect any personal information about you unless you voluntarily provide it to us. However, you may be required to provide certain personal information to us when you elect to use certain products or services. These may include (a) registering for an account; (b) entering into a sweepstakes or contest sponsored by one of our partners; (c) sending us an email message; (d) submitting your credit card or other payment information when purchasing services. We will use your information for, but not limited to, communicating with you in relation to the services you have requested from us. We may also gather information on usage patterns and preferences as visitors navigate the web site, use our services such as e-mail, or read our e-mail newsletters.
Cookies:
To help make our web site more responsive to the needs of our visitors, we use a standard feature of browser software called a “cookie”, to assign each visitor a unique, random number that resides on your computer. The cookie does not identify the visitor, just the computer that a visitor uses to access our site. Unless you voluntarily identify yourself, we won’t know who you are, even if we assign a cookie to your computer as the only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply. A cookie cannot read unrelated data off your computer. We use cookies to help us deliver a better, more personalized service. For example, we use cookies to track the pages and services on our website visited by our users. We can build a better website if we know which pages and features our users are visiting and how often.
Browser Level Information and IP Addresses:
Our webserver automatically collects limited information about your computer configuration when you visit our website, including the type of browser you use, the operating system you are running, the website that referred you, and your IP address. Your IP address is a number that is used by computers connected to the Internet to identify your computer so that data such as the webpages you want to view can be transmitted to you. We use IP address information for systems administration and trouble-shooting purposes.
Sharing Information with Third Parties:
StanRTA does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties. We may disclose your personal information, without notice, if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (a) comply with provisions of the law or with legal process served upon StanRTA; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of StanRTA; and/or (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of The S or the public.
Right to Deletion:
Subject to certain exceptions set out below, on receipt of a verifiable request from you, we will delete your personal information from our records.
Please note that we may not be able to comply with requests to delete your personal information if it is necessary to:
- Complete the transaction for which the personal information was collected, provide a service requested by you, or reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship with you.
- Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity; or prosecute those responsible for that activity.
- Debug to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality.
- Comply with existing laws.
- Comply with an existing legal obligation.
- Otherwise use your personal information in a lawful manner that is compatible with the context in which you provided the information.
Changes to this Policy:
StanRTA reserves the right to amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. Your continued use of the website after such revisions will constitute your acknowledgment of the amended Privacy Policy and your agreement to abide and be bound by the amended Policy.
Other Disclosures:
We may occasionally release information about our visitors when release is appropriate to comply with law, to protect the rights, property or safety of visitors to our sites, the public, our customers, or our agency and its employees, agents, partners and affiliates.
Please keep in mind that our communities are public spaces, so don’t post anything that you don’t want the world to see. Credit card numbers, product keys, and other confidential information, including anything covered under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), should not be posted to any blogs, discussions, or other public areas.
