Rideshare Week (October 5-9) is an opportunity for the community to come together and explore alternatives to solo driving in order to reduce road congestion, air pollution, negative effects on our personal health and well-being, and the depletion of our natural resources.
During Rideshare Week, Modesto Area Express (MAX) invites you to explore other ways of getting where you need to go to save money, improve your health, reduce your stress, and preserve our air quality. MAX and Modesto Area Dial-A-Ride (MADAR) are great Free options, but you can also ride a bike, walk, carpool, scooter, or skip. Get creative!
In response to COVID-19, MAX has offered free fares since April 3, 2020, to help our community and provide much-needed transportation to our essential workers. We hope the extension of free fares through October 11th will continue that effort. Funding for this free-ride extension is made possible through a grant from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) under the Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP). LCTOP was created to provide operating and capital assistance for transit agencies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve mobility, with a priority on serving disadvantaged communities. MAX will return to full-paid fares on Monday, October 12, 2020.
